There are a few bit side effects, such as soreness or low-grade fever, which are relatively common, serious side effects are very rare and occur in about 1 out of every 100,000 vaccinations.

Pfizer or Moderna vaccines are considered fully vaccinated: 2 weeks after their second shot in a 2-dose series, and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine are considered fully vaccinated  2 weeks after a single-shot.

According to the CDC, about two weeks after your final dose (first for Johnson & Johnson, second for Pfizer and Moderna) you are considered “fully protected.” At that point, the CDC says “you may be able to start doing some things you had stopped doing because of the pandemic.”
